The Priory does not have a car park, though all the parking in Burford is free and you can park on the main high street, the only restriction is a 2 hour parking limit from 11am – 4pm which is on the Priory restaurant side. Parking is also available in Priory Lane and Church Lane. If they are all busy, there is the main car park which is 5 minutes walk from us. You can always bring your car round to the main high street later in the evening.

Visit Burford

Burford in the Cotswolds

The beautiful town of Burford makes the perfect location for exploring the picturesque Cotswolds.

We are situated on the main street, which offers views over the Oxfordshire countryside and gently slopes down to the river Windrush. The street is lined with ancient cottages, old houses, inns and many interesting shops all which appear to have little changed since Tudor times.

B&B in the Cotswolds

Burford was the site of a fortified fort in Anglo-Saxon times.

The 15th century parish church of St. John Baptist is a magnificent site and is situated just around the corner from the Priory.  In May 1649 at the end of the English Civil War, 340 of the Levelers were rounded up and imprisoned in Burford Church by Cromwell and his men. Carvings from the incarcerated soldiers and the bullet holes of the three executed ring leaders can still be seen to this day.
